The NFL Combine is underway, and DP’s thoughts have turned to the upcoming NFL Draft where he believes the Raiders need to shore up their offensive line if they are planning on using their first pick on Fernando Mendoza. Otherwise, they risk ruining a golden opportunity for him and their franchise.
Dan Patrick: “The Raiders might be committing malpractice by drafting Fernando Mendoza and not having a good offensive line. You draft Aston Jeanty, and you don't have a good offensive line. Hopefully, he gets an opportunity to ease into the quarterbacking position, because I don't want him starting Week 1. Even if he's ready to start Week 1, he's not going to be ready to start. And I hope that they give him an opportunity where, ‘Hey, let's bolster the offensive line and give him a chance.’ Because if not, then you're going to have a similar situation to what you had last year with the Raiders when they had one of the worst offensive lines in football.”
